Our Objective

To promote the health, safety, welfare and wellbeing of working people and the organisations they work for by networking, sharing and learning, the adoption of good practice and continuous improvement.

This extends to an organisation’s physical assets, the environment, and the community which it serves or in which it operates.

Who we are

  • The Association was formed in 1930 when the (now) HSE and industry representatives met to discuss how to reduce the number of serious machinery accidents.
  • We have been helping businesses understand their duties, reduce risks, and protect their people by providing a regular forum and learning opportunity ever since.
  • A registered charity, we are run by a group of volunteers and a part-time secretary / administrator.
  • Our funding comprises income from legacy assets / investments plus very modest membership fees.
  • We are open to all - individuals, companies small and large, organisations, other charities – in all sectors.
